WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BELIEVE IN AND FOLLOW JESUS?
Following Jesus is not just knowing who He is but having a daily relationship with Him.
BELIEVE
The first step towards following Jesus is believing who He is.
Creation
God created humanity as male and female in His image, designed us to live in a relationship with Him, and commanded us to rule over and care for His good creation.
The Fall
The first humans rejected God’s authority and as a result of their disobedience humanity and all creation is twisted and corrupted by sin, evil, and death.
Redemption
God has made a way to rescue humanity and creation from the sin through the sacrificial death and physical resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The Great Commission
The church is called to proclaim the good news of Jesus’ death and resurrection with the entire world. By loving God and loving people, followers of Jesus participate in God’s plan to rescue and restore all creation through building His Kingdom.
When a person decides to believe that only the life, sacrificial death, and physical resurrection of Jesus can defeat the power of sin, evil, and death, and that only He can rescue and restore all of creation, and then follows the commands and instructions of Jesus as a demonstration of their allegiance to Him, they become a member of God’s people.

Say this prayer to your Heavenly Father. There is nothing magical or special about this prayer, this just puts words to what you are already feeling in your heart.
“Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner, but I know you are the Savior, Who died on the cross for my sin and rose again from the dead. Now come into my life. I choose to follow You from this moment forward. Thank you for hearing this prayer and answering this prayer. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

This goal is all about living in constant connection to and awareness of Jesus’ presence through the Holy Spirit. This is normally done through the disciplines of prayer and scripture reading.

This goal is all about learning Jesus’ teachings and being transformed by His Spirit. This is normally done through the disciplines of emotional health and sabbath.

This goal is all about doing the things Jesus did. Jesus calls those who become disciples, to then go and make disciples. Doing what Jesus did is about taking the transformation He has taken us through and pouring that out into the world around us. This is normally done through the disciplines of spirit-led obedience and evangelism.
