serve. supply. support.
We have been invited to love and support Afghan refugees who are currently displaced and living at a nearby military base. It’s an honor to partner with displaced families as well as the military members. Leaders on base have shared key areas where they need help and how we can serve as a community.
Each week we are able to come together and travel to Fort Pickett to provide support for the Afghan refugees at this location. If you are wanting to serve, we have opportunities for you to participate through family programs and activities, as well as, teaching English as a second language to help them adapt to their new environment. For more information on how to prepare for each week, you can review our Frequently Asked Questions list at the bottom of this page.

*Due to the process to serve on base, please complete all forms by the Saturday of the week before you plan to serve.

There are specific items needed and those needs change quickly! Continue to check here for an up-to-date list. To ensure that we have the right amount to meet each need, local churches will be responsible for specific items. Please refer to the list below.
Head to Waymaker.Church* anytime to drop off items. Even when the office is closed, there are instructions on-site showing where to place items.
