Restored: Connect Group for Moms
Leader: Brittany McGeoch
For years Christian women have been told to "have more faith" or "pray more" to bring about peace from depression and anxiety. But what does that mean for the momma who can't stop worrying or struggles to see the joy in each day? This group is designed specifically for moms who wish to examine what Scripture says about peace while juggling the realities of life, motherhood, anxiety and depression. We will discuss how it impacts our physical and spiritual life as well as form a supportive community of women who feel understood and far less alone on our journey to peace.
Brittany is a Lynchburg native with a background in social work. She is married to her husband, Adam, of nine years and they have a sweet five year old little boy with another on the way. Brittany has battled generalized anxiety since the fourth grade, but it really came to head after the birth of her son and the diagnosis of postpartum anxiety. It was through supportive friends at Waymaker that helped Brittany identify the postpartum anxiety and seek out treatment to start the path of healing. Brittany believes that no one should journey the path to healing alone and it's through groups such as Restored that we are able to connect, support, and shake the fears that come with anxiety and depression. While it is a daily journey on the path to healing, Brittany knows that there is hope for each of us.
Kaylah Cobb loves her Heavenly Father, is a wife, mother to two wonderful boys and a fierce friend. Her road to and through motherhood has been riddled with obstacles and it certainly has not been easy, but Jesus has seen her through! After becoming part of the Resorted Group here at Waymaker in 2019, she discovered an even deeper love for connecting with other Momma's who need support through the early stages of motherhood & the battles with anxiety/birth trauma/postpartum depression. Kaylah is excited to be a co-leader of this new group & is looking forward to seeing relationships build and Jesus move in amazing ways!
