Overcoming Fear

Overcoming Fear

What does fear mean to you? For a lot of us, especially now, it is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that something is dangerous and likely to cause pain or a threat. Fear takes on different elements and comes at life’s most unpredictable moments.

Currently, COVID-19 has caused us to have fear over the unknown future, our health, our businesses, and our finances. We don’t understand why something like this would happen or even if God is in the midst. Yet, God’s Word reminds us that, in unprecedented times, we should put our hope and trust in Christ alone.

Isaiah 41:10 (ESV)

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Psalm 56 (ESV)

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”

Matthew 6:31-32 (NLT)

“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.”

Take comfort in knowing that the God of this universe cares for you. Fear does not have power over you. Proclaim the promises of God to combat the lies of fear from our spiritual enemy.
